Rumors have been swirling since before the FA Cup final that Manchester United coach Eric Ten Haag is set to be sacked regardless of the outcome of the match. In an interview published before the match, the Dutch coach lashed out at United fans and pundits.
After winning the title after defeating Manchester City 2-1 in the final, Ten Haag remained candid. Said, if United don’t want him as coach, he will go somewhere else and go there and win the title.
United gave one of their best performances of the season at Wembley yesterday. The team was dangerous on the counter-attack as well as defending brilliantly. Two 19-year-old youngsters Alejandro Garnacho and Kobi Mainu gave the team a 2-0 lead in the first half from such an attack. Guardiola’s team could not prevent United’s title win despite Jeremy Docu’s late goal.
After winning the title naturally there was talk about the future of Ten Haag.
The United coach said
he was unsure of his future at the Old Trafford club next season, adding: ‘Two titles and three finals in two years isn’t bad. If they don’t want me, I’ll go somewhere else and win trophies. Because that’s what I do.
Meanwhile, it is heard that the United authorities have already spoken to the representatives of several coaches as an alternative to Ten Haag. When asked about the matter, Ten Haag said, “I don’t know if they did it or not.” I cannot answer this question. i don’t know Maybe you have a clue, I don’t. I’m on a project and we’re where we’re supposed to be. We are building a team for the future.’
When I took over, we were in disarray,” said Ten Haag, recalling what United were like before he arrived. The team is improving now, winning.
